Fairchild Ward - Male Complex Needs & Rehabilitation Low Secure Service

FryFairchild ward is a 14 bed male only low secure service for the treatment and rehabilitation of males with complex needs. This may include patients with dual diagnoses of mental illness plus personality disorder, learning difficulties or addiction needs.

The model of care is based around the Recovery Model and will balance the capacity for patients to have a fulfilling experience with the emphasis on minimizing risk and maximizing individual capacity and potential.

Treatment Programme

Fairchild Ward provides an enhanced environment for the treatment and rehabilitation of male patients over the age of eighteen years. The unit provides a gender sensitive male focused care pathway which is specifically developed around the Recovery Model of care and is fully patient inclusive. We aim to prioritise relapse prevention ensuring that treatment and therapies are directed towards enhancing coping strategies with specific outcome measures.

The ultimate aim of the ward is to facilitate an increase in patient autonomy through structured individual care pathways using evidence based practice provided by appropriately trained and experienced staff.

Specific needs-led assessments will be undertaken which will take into consideration the patient's presentation in the context of their life experience, whilst offering the opportunity for greater social inclusion through the utilization of community resources in addition to our on-site facilities.

We utilize group and individual therapy both on and off the ward to promote greater awareness and understanding of individual problems, which will assist in managing inappropriate behaviour and promote greater understanding of mental illness. All patients are encouraged to participate in therapy.

We offer a programme that includes groups that focus on:

  • Symptom Management
