Male Low Secure Rehab – Clifton Ward
Service & Objectives
Clifton Ward is a 15-bed service for rehabilitation of male patients requiring care and treatment in a low secure setting.
Our objective is to support our clients in learning how to function independently and prepare them for life in the community. To empower them in managing their mental health for sustained future well-being.
Who is appropriate?
We accept referrals from PCTs, high or medium secure hospitals, other NHS units and the prison service with the following admission criteria:
- Patients detained under an assessment/treatment order of the Mental Health Act
- Patients presenting with a dual diagnosis
- Patients needing long term care and treatment in a locked environment
- Patients aged 18 years and upwards
- Patients in medium secure units requiring rehabilitation in a low secure environment
We cannot accept:
- Current drug and/or alcohol abusers
- Those with a moderate or severe learning disability
Treatment Programme
Treatment is individually tailored to each patient with an emphasis on maximising individual skills and enhancing quality of life.
Interventions and therapies are based on different psychological models of development, behaviour and mental health. These will include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapies and psychodynamic therapies.
Individual and group work can include:
- Anxiety management
- Anger management
- Self-esteem building
- Problem solving
- Personal care
- Health education
- Social skills training
- Relaxation
- Relapse prevention
- Quality of life issues
We value the involvement and support of family members and carers which is central to the progress of the treatment that our patients receive. To this end, we have produced a brochure with helpful information for carers.
Making a Referral
Referrals to Clifton Ward can be made by any member of the MDT and supported by the RMO. Upon receipt of a referral, we will arrange an assessment to be carried out within 24 hours. Following assessment, a decision on eligibility for admission will be made within 24 hours and a report submitted to the referring team within 2 working days.
