Adolescents
Service & Objectives
We treat the whole range of mental health illness including addictions and Eating Disorders.
Our aim is to create opportunities to achieve emotional well-being and a lifestyle which incorporates the basic rights to privacy, confidentiality, dignity and respect. We also introduce new strategies to help manage the ups and downs of everyday life more effectively.
Who is appropriate?
We will consider both planned and emergency admissions on an individual basis. We also encourage young patients and their families to visit the unit prior to admission.
Treatment Programme
Our Young Persons Unit has facilities designed exclusively for the use of its patients and is separate from other parts of the hospital. It contains 12 en-suite bedrooms, its own classroom and an outdoor sports facility.
We provide education services on site and our teachers will liaise with the young person’s school or college so they are able to follow the National Curriculum within the constraints of their illness. Arrangements can be made for completion of exams as appropriate.
Our specialist treatment programme is designed to provide a structured, consistent approach combining therapeutic interventions proven to benefit adolescents, including:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT)
- Family Therapy
