Is there a cost for the assessment?
No. We do not charge for assessments.
What is the assessment process?
The Assessment procedure is tailored to the individual needs of the patient, normally our Consultant attends along with a senior nurse, this can be either at the hospital or at any other convenient location
What happens next?
After the intitial assessment a full Assessment Report is compiled and arrangements are made to visit the unit.
What is the admission procedure?
Upon arrival the patient will have a full in-patient assessment by our medical team and be allocated a Named Nurse and Keyworker. Once the basic procedures are completed the patient is introduced to members of the team and settled into the ward.
Do you maintain contact with referrers during an admission?
We feel it is important that full contact is maintained with all individuals involved in the care of the patient throughout their stay. We provide regular weekly clinical updates about progress, together with personal telephone contact.
What is the average length of stay?
This depends on the individual, however we have patients admitted for as little as a week to stabilize their condition or much longer stays where individuals engage in intensive treatment plans.
What happens if a patient relapses or problems occur?
Upon discharge we feel it is important to maintain regular contact with patients who have been discharged, both in terms of distance support, and out-patient & out-reach contact. This system helps to ensure that a support mechanism is fully in place should the patient need further help.
Would it be possible to arrange a visit to the unit?
We encourage informal visits to the service, and this can be easily arranged where the individual is able to meet the nursing team and patient community.
