Who is appropriate?
We accept referrals of patients that may or may not be detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 with the following admission criteria
- Age 18+
- Acute and/or chronic challenging behaviour
- Patients who represent a persistent risk of absconding to avoid treatment, where subsequent relapse carries a risk of dangerous behaviour
- Patients who present with a dual diagnosis of mental illness and a secondary diagnosis of substance abuse, personality disorder or mild learning disability
Treatment Programme
We believe that each patient should be treated as an individual and that the care offered should be tailored to the individual need. Wherever possible we encourage the involvement of the patient, their family and relevant others in the planning of care as we believe it gives a holistic picture of the issues and problems that the patient and others face. Each patient is treated with respect and dignity. We believe that the ward atmosphere can have a negative or positive impact on the patient’s well being so therefore we actively promote a warm and friendly atmosphere. We believe that the therapeutic relationship is vitally important in the patients’ progress and endeavour to maintain this throughout the patient’s treatment.
