How can I find out more about consultants and what they do?

How quickly can I be seen?
We can usually arrange outpatient appointments to see an available Consultant within 24 hours. If you wish to see a “named” Consultant, this may take a little longer.How do I access treatment?
The first step is to have an assessment carried out by one of our Consultants. We will in due course also require a referral letter from your GP. If you are worried about what to say to your GP or how to say it, we can talk you through what you should say so they understand how you are feeling - our friendly and helpful medical secretaries will be able to advise and guide you.How much will it cost ?
This will depend on the type of treatment you require. Please call our medical secretaries for further advice.How can I pay for my treatment?
You can fund your own treatment or this can be paid by your private medical insurance if you have any. We will assist in checking your cover.Can the NHS pay for my treatment?
This does not usually happen.Do I need to have private medical insurance to be treated at Cygnet?
No, you are able to fund your own treatment if you wish.Do I need to go to my GP to get a referral?
In order to provide you with the best possible treatment we will require information from your GP about your medical history. The GP will only provide us with the facts that relate to your treatment. It is also good practice to liaise with your GP upon discharge.
