Frequently Asked Questions
How can I find out more about consultants and what they do?
If you contact our Medical Secretary, Nigar Aboobaker she will be able to provide you with more information regarding the background of each of our consultants. Nigar will also be able to book an appointment for you should you wish to meet with one of them.
How quickly can I be seen?
This depends on who you are seen by. At the hospital we operate an ‘open-door’ policy where we encourage individuals to come and have an informal visit which is normally arranged with a member of our nursing team, this can be the same day as your enquiry. If you wish to see a member of our Multi Disciplinary Team you will need to make an appointment and this will depend on their availability.
How do I access treatment?
The first step is to have an assessment carried out by one of our consultants, along with a senior member of the nursing team. We also need a referral letter from your GP. Following your initial assessment a Plan of Care is developed to enable you to access the most appropriate treatment pathway, this can either be on an out-patient, day or in-patient basis.
Do I need to go to my GP to get a referral?
We accept self-referrals although we will need to involve your GP as he/she is the coordinator of your medical treatment and we will require a referral letter in due course.
How much will it cost ?
For further details please telephone us regarding our Schedule of Fees.
Do I need to have private medical insurance to be treated at Cygnet?
No – we accept patients who are self-funded or funded by the NHS. In addition to this the hospital has also been approved as an appointed treatment centre by all major medical insurance companies. We can assist in checking whether you are covered by your private medical insurance policy.
How can I pay for my treatment?
We take payments for treatment weekly in advance and are able to take cash, cheques or credit cards.
Can the NHS pay for my treatment?
We do take referrals from the NHS, however these need to come directly from your NHS home treatment team or GP with funding that has been agreed.
