Self Harm & Borderline Personality Disorders Service (New Dawn)
Appointments: telephone 020 8991 6699
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a serious mental illness characterized by pervasive instability in moods, interpersonal relationships, self-image and behavior. This instability often disrupts family and work life, long-term planning, and the individual's sense of self-identity. Individuals with BPD are also often self-harmers.
We help women aged between 18 and 65 who self-harm and/or who suffer from Borderline Personality Disorders.
Treatment
Our treatment programme, based on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, is structured so as to give give patients the best opportunity to address and deal with their problems in a safe environment.
Treatment is divided into Skills Training and Individual Therapy.
Skills Training is in group sessions and looks at core mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.
In Individual Therapy, clients consolidate what is being learnt in Skills Training by focusing on positive changes in their behaviour, establishing targets and monitoring progress.
The hospital also offers relaxation therapy, pampering groups, drama, art and music therapy.
