Richard has worked in mental health since 1991 starting on acute admission wards in Barnsley. In 1993 he qualified from Sheffield University as a RMN returning to work in Barnsley Mental Heath Services in acute and rehabilitation care settings.
Richard joined Cygnet in February 1999 working at Detox 5 in Harrogate as a Staff Nurse, eventually achieving the position of Charge Nurse before leaving in May 2002 to work at Cygnet Hospital Wyke initially as a Senior Staff Nurse, Charge Nurse, Ward Manager, then Clinical Manager before taking on his current role as Hospital Manager.

After qualifying as an RMN in 1994 Yvonne gained experience working in a number of NHS secure mental health units including the medium secure Norvic Clinic where she was a senior staff nurse. In 2001 Yvonne joined Cambian Healthcare where she had the distinction of being their first registered hospital manager.
Yvonne joined Cygnet in March 2010 as a ward manager at the newly opened Cygnet Hospital Derby before being promoted Clinical Manager of Cygnet Hospital Wyke and Cygnet Lodge Brighouse.

Gwen trained at High Royds hospital in Leeds qualifying as a Registered Mental Nurse in 1988. Since then she has worked in a variety of clinical settings including acute wards both locked and open. In 1992 Gwen left High Royds to set up an admission ward at Lynfield Mount Hospital. From 1995 until joining Cygnet in 2002 she managed a 65 bedded forensic nursing unit at HMP Leeds Armley.
Gwen is also a qualified General Nurse and theatre nurse, she is also a registered mentor for student nurses at the University of Huddersfield.

David has over 23 years experience working within psychiatric services. Following qualification as a RMN in 2000 he commenced employment at a low secure forensic psychiatric facility at St Lukes Hospital.
David joined Cygnet in 2005 as a ward manager at Cygnet Hospital Bierley before moving on to Cygnet Lodge Brighouse in July 2007 where he was able to gain experience and additional responsibility as the Registered Manager. David now manages the Female Low Secure Services at Cygnet Hospital Wyke.

Helen qualified as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in 2001. She then commenced employment as Staff Nurse with Care Principles Ltd, a low secure hospital for people with learning disabilities, mental health difficulties and challenging behaviour.
In 2009 Helen left to manage various independent care homes throughout the West Midlands and Shropshire including Learning Disabilities, Mental Health and Older People Services focusing largely on clinical audit and clinical governance. Helen joined Cygnet Health Care in 2011.

Anne-Marie Osborne-Fitzgerald started her career in 2002, at the Castle Hill Unit in Huddersfield, a NHS Low Secure Forensic Unit. Having worked her way up from Senior Staff Nurse she now holds the post of Clinical Development Nurse, working across all the Cygnet hospitals in West Yorkshire.
Anne-Marie is passionate about all aspect of Clinical Governance. She has particular interests in staff development and clinical audit. She is committed to best patient centred care and works with the rest of the staff team to deliver high quality care.

Following 20 years in the hotel industry as Chief Engineer, Martin ujoined Cygnet Health Care in 2001 as Estates Manager. He is the longest serving Estates Manager within the group and is always willing to assist other units. Martin is also the Health and Safety lead and Fire Safety Trainer for the hospital.
In his time with the company Martin has worked on secondment to Adrian Munday as Health and Safety Advisor to the company. Martin is fully committed to the success of Cygnet Health Care.

Dr Paul Walczak is a Speciality Doctor on the Male PICU Austen Ward. He has worked in Psychiatry since 1980 in the North Manchester and Salford rotations before moving on to Forensic Medicine. He has worked in the Prison Service in Manchester and Liverpool Prison and has also worked as a Forensic Medical Examiner with Merseyside Police.
Paul first joined Cygnet Hospital Wyke in 2003 for a one year period and returned to work with us in 2009.

Mal is a Senior Therapeutic Social Worker at Cygnet Hospital Wyke. She works therapeutically with service users on the PICU ward within the context of statutory framework as well as within the remit of individual empowerment. Mal's background is in Integrative Psychotherapy and Supervision and she is committed to mental health work.
Outside of her duties for Cygnet Hospital Wyke, Mal is an artist, specialising in making collages and is also a Mental Health Activist in Europe.

Shaun joined Cygnet Hospital Wyke in 2012. Prior to this he worked for 19 years with the Ministry of Justice, holding a number of roles focusing on rehabilitative work. He has facilitated and managed a wide range of offending behaviour programmes using a CBT approach.
For the past 9 years Shaun’s specialist area of work has been the development and management of substance misuse programmes in custodial and community settings. He is an experienced trainer of substance misuse workers for CBT group work.

Kim qualified from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2008 with an MSc Occupational Therapy (pre-registration). She began her career at Stockton Hall Hospital, a medium secure psychiatric unit, where she worked within a variety of clinical areas, including severe and enduring mental illness and women diagnosed with personality disorder.
In 2010, Kim moved to Cygnet Hospital Wyke where she provides an occupational therapy service on the male PICU ward as well being in a supervisory role for the occupational therapy team.

Miriam qualified at the University of East Anglia with a BSc in Occupational Therapy. She began working at Cygnet Hospital Wyke in 2010 where she works on Bronte ward developing the therapy service.
Great progress has been made to provide a service-user led therapy programme that meets the women's specific needs and goals.

Katy qualified from the University of Teesside in 2010 with a BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy. She then joined Cygnet Hospital Wyke where she has been focussing on developing the therapy service on Shelley Ward. The service promotes individualised treatment plans to meet the complex needs and goals of the male patients on the ward.

In 2007 Natalie gained an MA in Art Therapy. Upon qualifying Natalie was employed by North Derbyshire Women’s Aid working with children and young people.
Natalie currently works between two jobs; as a Mental Health Practitioner at The University of Derby and as the Art Therapist at Cygnet Hospital Wyke. In this role Natalie specialises in offering patients who are experiencing psychological distress a safe and supportive environment in which to use art materials and the therapeutic relationship to facilitate expression, communication, insight and personal progression.

Heena has always had a passion for Psychology, having studied it at A-Level and Degree Level. During her degree she volunteered in various organisations including Rehab UK, Special Needs School, and an institutional farm in Durban, South Africa.
At Cygnet Hospital Wyke Heena carries out assessments and individual and group interventions using cognitive and behavioural principles. Heena is currently completing a module on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis (Masters Level) at Leeds Metropolitan University.

Deehan joined Cygnet in 2004 and has become a key member of the team with her extensive knowledge in IT and administration. Deehan is responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the administration department along with overseeing all of recruitment and personnel for Cygnet Hospital Wyke and Cygnet Lodge Brighouse.
Deehan's role is very varied and along with her other duties she is also responsible for co-ordinating the mandatory training for all staff at Cygnet Hospital Wyke and Cygnet Lodge Brighouse.

Leanne joined Cygnet Healthcare in March 2008 after gaining many years experience in an administrative role. Her main role within Cygnet is supporting the Clinical Manager with the day to day running of the clinical department, recording and achieving accurate personnel data and Hppd database.
Leanne also finalises the recruitment process for successful applicants joining our busy team, she is also the first point of contact as the Tribunal Clerk for the MHA Tribunal Judge and panel members.

Melanie has been a Receptionist at Cygnet Hospital Wyke since it opened in 2002. She prides herself on providing a professional and friendly welcome to all who contact the hospital, in addition to this Melanie performs an administrative role supporting the hospital management.
Prior to joining Cygnet Melanie worked as a Deputy Manager for a high street retail chain.
