Dr Robert F Kehoe, BSc MBChb FRCPsych MPhil
Medico-legal issues
Dr Kehoe trained in medicine at the University of Leeds and in psychiatry at the University of Edinburgh where he completed an MPhil thesis on lithium monitoring. He was appointed as a Consultant Psychiatrist at Airedale General Hospital, West Yorkshire in 1993 and had responsibilities in clinical audit, clinical governance and became the Trust Associate Medical Director.
Dr Kehoe has worked at Cygnet Hospital Wyke since 2002 and subsequently at Cygnet Lodge Brighouse. He is a general adult psychiatrist and has developed a medico-legal practice at the Grange Consulting Rooms, Cleckheaton. He is the Medical Director for the West Yorkshire Cygnet Hospitals.
Dr Alice F Duncan, BSc MB BS MRCPsych
General Psychiatry
Dr Duncan is a Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry with special interest in Forensic Psychiatry, based at Cygnet Hospital Wyke with Lead Consultant role on the male PICU Austen Ward. Dr Duncan also shares Consultant responsibility for patients on the low secure male high dependency complex needs ward, Shelley.
Dr Duncan has worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist since 1991 and held consultant posts in the NHS and the private sector. Her psychiatric experience started in the Bahamas after graduating from medical school at the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica and completing her internship. She has a broad range of psychiatric experience which included working in the community, in general psychiatric hospitals and in low and medium secure hospitals in the United Kingdom.
Dr Asif Y Ramzan, MB ChB MRCPsych
Forensic Psychiatry
Dr Ramzan attended Sheffield University Medical School in 1993-1998. He completed Senior House Officer training in psychiatry within the North Trent Scheme before being appointed to the Forensic Psychiatry Higher Training Scheme in West Yorkshire. He obtained a CCST in Forensic Psychiatry in 2002. He has worked as a Consultant in Forensic Psychiatry since February 2003.
Dr Ramzan has a particular interest in the care of mentally disordered female offenders and also the rehabilitation of forensic patients and those with similar needs. He has an interest in medical education and has held various roles within the Northern and Yorkshire Division of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He undertakes a variety of medico-legal work providing expert opinions with respect to criminal, family and civil court matters.
Dr Keith J B Rix, MPhil LLM MD FEWI FRCPsych
Forensic Psychiatry
Dr. Rix’s experience of the forensic field goes back to 1966 when he first lived in hostels for ex-offenders and undertook assessments of prisoners for after-care hostels. From 1966 to 1976 he worked in various projects for ‘alcoholic offenders’ in London and in 1972 he established the Aberdeen Council on Alcohol. He was later instrumental in establishing the Scottish Council on Alcohol. He obtained Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1979 and was elected to the Fellowship in 1991.
As well as being a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist at Cygnet Hospital Wyke, where his beds are on Austen Ward, the psychiatric intensive care unit, he is also an independent Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist at The Grange, Cleckheaton, where he has a medicolegal and clinical practice. He also consults in Norfolk and London. He is a Part-time Lecturer in the Department of Law at De Montfort University. He sits as a Chairman of the Fitness to Practise Panel of the General Medical Council. His main clinical interest is the care of mentally disordered offenders and has written numerous papers on the subject for the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
