The Springs Community - residential care for Asperger's and AutismThe Springs Community is staffed twenty-four hours a day, every day of the year.

All service users have their own key workers who are selected on the basis of mutual compatibility.

Staffing ratios are according to the individual's level of need.

All care staff hold or are working towards:

  • Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2 (Formerly NVQ2 in Care)
  • Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 3 (Formerly NVQ3 Promoting Independence)

Staff attend mandatory training courses in the following areas:

  • Health & Safety
  • Food Hygiene (Care and Kitchen staff only)
  • Emergency First Aid
  • Fire Safety Awareness
  • Manual Handling
  • Infection Control
  • Child and Adult Protection
  • Challenging Behaviour
  • Foundation Medication (Care Staff Only)
  • Mental Capacity Act (Care Staff Only)
  • Asperger's Syndrome, Autism and associated conditions

Staff have their own individual training and development plans which identify other training priorities relevant to their own individual and organisational needs. Additional training is organised to meet service users changing needs.

The Springs Community also employs the services of tutors in special needs education, Art & Crafts and Sports & Fitness. Additionally we employ the services of a masseur, a reflexologist and a chiropodist.

Staff meetings and senior staff meetings take place in a regular cycle and in addition there are regular service user meetings which both service users and staff attend.
