Information for Service Users

To help with this we base our approach to your treatment and care on the principles of Recovery by involving you in every aspect of your journey from admission to discharge. This will include making you aware that you are going to be assessed and who will be assessing you along with information on what it will involve, providing you with a welcome guide (please click on link below for an electronic copy) which we have worked with our service users to produce which explains about life at Cygnet Hospital Stevenage.

We will give you feedback on the assessment and identify a staff contact and a service user buddy whom you can contact for more information prior to being admitted as well as meeting you on the day that you are admitted and showing you around the hospital and the ward that you will be admitted onto.

The Welcome Guide is designed to give you an overview of life at Cygnet Hospital Stevenage. We hope that you like what you see in the guide and if you do choose to come into Cygnet Hospital Stevenage we will provide you with more detailed information about your new ward.

Carers (Family and Friends)

At Cygnet Hospital Stevenage we encourage family, friends and carers to be as involved in your care as they can be. We feel that input from family and friends can have a very positive impact on you and help speed up your recovery. There are many ways in which they can get involved and to this end:

• They will be respected as care partners and will have access to the personalised services that they need to support you.
• We will ensure their needs are recognised and promoted by the hospital.
• We will aim to work in collaboration with you and them in establishing and maintaining an inclusive forum that involves them fully in planning and delivering services that support them whilst promoting your independence.
• They will be able to access relevant services, information and support.
• We will work with other organisations such as advocacy to ensure all the support they need is available to them.
