At Westlands we provide a stepping point in the return to community living for women who have previously been in a secure environment. The Lodge provides a treatment in a community setting for women experiencing complex mental illness, borderline personality disorder or eating disorders, helping them re-establish and develop the skills they need.
Working alongside our hospital in Ealing, where we offer specialist daycare services, we aim to provide a care pathway from medium or low-secure units for females over 18. We provide a range of community activities and individual care packages based on life skills therapy, to help individuals live independently and enhance their self esteem.
We design our treatment to help individuals find alternative ways of expressing feelings without having to resort to harmful behaviour, and so progress towards a more meaningful and enjoyable life. We help all individuals chart their progress in collaboration with their family, clinical team and referring agencies.
Our clinicians are available by telephone or email 24 hours a day and carry out assessments within 48 hours, making decisions and planning the care pathway in collaboration with the referrer. We care for both informal and detained service users. Unfortunately we are unable to admit those who are abusing alcohol or drugs, or those with moderate to severe learning disabilities.
Planning for discharge begins from point of admission. We hold regular care planning meetings and case reviews in line with the Care Plan Approach (CPA). After discharge, we always maintain contact with the individual's family or mental health team to continue to support or provide advice.
