Julie Procter is a qualified Art Psychotherapist, Clinical Supervisor and Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT).
Julie runs Expressive Therapy classes at Cygnet Hospital Harrogate. Expressive Therapy is a type of therapy that uses art materials to help express and communicate thoughts and feelings. The classes are run as group sessions and typically last for about 2 hours. People do not have to be good at art to take part.
Expressive Therapy helps to unravel emotional chaos and identify problematic core issues. Those who take part will develop a better emotional understanding and learn coping strategies. Julie says that, "it’s easier to understand feelings, when you can ‘see’ how you feel."
