Cygnet Hospital Harrogate provides a fixed price, proven alcohol detoxification programme which is designed to assist patients with their physical, psychological and emotional dependence on alcohol.

The programme is offered through two distinctive stages, a seven day (6 night) physical detoxification treatment with the option of continuing on to a ten day (9 night) programme of intensive therapy. Both stages can be attended independently.
The fixed price covers every aspect of the patient’s treatment plan which is individually tailored to suit their needs and charges cover medical and nursing interventions as well as all medications.
Throughout their stay with us all patients enjoy confidential treatment in a pleasant safe environment with their own private en-suite bedroom and one to one nursing.
Detox
During the medical withdrawal assessments of patients’ physical needs are undertaken several times each day and medication is prescribed by the consultant psychiatrist in order to minimise withdrawal symptoms. Discharge planning is undertaken from day five to prepare patients for their return home or continued care through attendance of the 10 day therapy programme.
Therapy
The 10 day therapy programme offers comprehensive therapeutic interventions. Sobriety is a pre- requisite of entry to the programme and through therapy patients are able to explore all aspects of their previous drinking behaviour whilst developing new skills and strategies for managing stress and coping with their changing lifestyle.
Admissions
A willingness to change is an essential element of either programme. A GP or medical practitioner’s referral is vital in order to provide our clinical team with the patient’s medical history along with current medication which will assist them in developing an individually tailored care plan to address their specific needs. A pre-prepared referral form is available to simplify this process and to assist patients and their GPs in being referred to the programme.
Payment for both treatment packages can be made by private funds or private medical insurance. Alternatively your GP may be able to access local funding.
