Alvaston Ward:
Female Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder

Alvaston Ward provides treatment for women who suffer from Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder. Treatment is based on Schema and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) approaches, as well as other models of care where appropriate. The emphasis on Alvaston Ward is one of treatment, recovery and rehabilitation.

The Multi-Disciplinary Team on Alvaston Ward are committed to ensuring the highest quality of care provision. Each service user's care package is individualised and is based on a detailed assessment of needs implemented in co-operation with the service user, their significant others and their local care team. All members of the Multi-Disciplinary Team and ward staff are trained in both Schema Focused Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).

Treatment is aimed at the following groups:

  • Service users who require inpatient services due to their personality disorder
  • Service users who may have a history of involvement in the criminal justice system
  • Service users who often present challenging behaviour, nuisance behaviour or severe self-neglect or harm and vulnerability

Admission Criteria

  • Female aged 18+
  • Dangerous behaviour and/or chronic challenging behaviour
  • Service users who are motivated to accept treatment and/or recognise the need for help
  • Service users who may be extremely vulnerable due to a history of sexual abuse
  • Service users who may require a low secure setting

Referrals

A patient assessment visit can be arranged quickly by either phoning or faxing a completed referral form. Referrers will be notified of decisions verbally and in writing within 72 hours. Download Referral Form.
