One of the leading inpatient psychiatric hospitals in the north of England, Bierley is built to designated low secure specifications, and offers service users exceptional levels of care for a number of mental health conditions, in a well-maintained therapeutic environment. We offer 61 en-suite bedrooms in four gender specific wards:
- Fairfax Ward: Male low secure complex needs
- Denholme Ward: Female Psychiatric Intensive Care (PICU)
- New Dawn: Female Borderline Personality Disorders Service
- Bowling Ward: Female PD Stepdown
Facilities and Care
Each service user has their own en-suite room with access to external secure courtyards, a fully equipped gym, an art room, IT classroom and ADL kitchen.
Our multi-disciplinary team consists of occupational therapists, a clinical psychologist, social workers, an art psychotherapist, technical fitness instructors and activity coordinators.
Together, they draw on their wealth of experience, and close relationships with other Cygnet units in West Yorkshire, to help people with long-term psychotic illnesses and challenging behaviour regain their independence – and move from low secure facilities, to open acute and intensive community rehabilitation.
