We understand that for some people coming into hospital can be a confusing and stressful experience. At Cygnet Hospital Beckton we want your admission to be as straightforward and stress free as possible. To help with this we have worked with our service users to produce a Welcome Guide which will explain about life at Cygnet Hospital Beckton. The Welcome Guide is designed to give you a high level view of life at Cygnet Hospital Beckton.
We hope that you like what you see in the guide and if you do choose to come into Cygnet Hospital Beckton we will provide you with more detailed information about your new ward.
Service users at Cygnet Beckton can give input on Hospital Policy, Quality Assessments, and Service Development through the Service User Council. There are two service user representatives from each ward. It is a paid job and their work is highly valued.
Service user representatives are invited to sit on the interview panel alongside staff and management to assist in selecting new staff. The service user representative gets to learn about the rules and policies that govern recruitment, ask questions they have written, and contribute their opinion to the final decision.
After each 8 week programme we have a celebration where service users receive certificates for the groups they have attended. Service users can then also vote on what type of groups they would like in the next programme. There is always food and karaoke and, despite the sometimes inclement, we even have barbecues.
We want to celebrate and showcase the activities of our service users, whether it be in participating in group projects, individual artistic endeavours or even getting involved in wider hospital activities. The following are jsut a few examples of the activities and projects our service users have participated in.
