Autism Residential Support Services
Cygnet Springside autism support services operate two autism respite (short break/shared care) services specifically for children and young people with autism and Asperger’s syndrome aged 5 – 17 years. Springside is based in Stockport, Greater Manchester and provides support for children and young people across the North West.
Both ‘Springside House’ (short break) and ‘Springside Place’ (shared care) are registered with Ofsted. We provide specialist autism support and Asperger’s care that recognises individual aims and wishes and works towards personal development goals for children and young people with autistic spectrum conditions, associated learning disabilities and complex needs.
Autism Friendly
The Springside homes are designed to be autism friendly, and provide a welcoming but low stimulus environment. The homes are based within a large detached property in Heaton Moor, Stockport. This allows for social inclusion and development and gives young people the opportunity to contribute to the local community. Both homes are decorated and furnished to an exceptionally high standard and much work has been undertaken to ensure they are safe yet functional and homely.
Each young person has their own room, which can be personalised as much as they want during their stays. There are many opportunities for learning, skill development and fun both inside and outside in the large garden area, where equipment includes swings, climbing frame and trampoline. We also have many day trips and activities away from Springside, to increase integration, learning and fun.
Working in Partnership
We value working in partnership with families, schools/educationalists and any other people involved in a child’s life. This enhances learning opportunities and ensures consistency for the young person. We can support work undertaken and plans put in place at home and at school which increases development of life, communication and social skills, and also skills such as numeracy and literacy.
Transition
We understand the importance of developing transition plans and pathways and as such support families in this, and support young people through transitions themselves, into and throughout adulthood.
