Cygnet Springside Autism Support Services
The Cygnet Springside Service provides specialist autism support and Asperger’s care. We provide an outreach service for young people and adults aged 5-64 in the North West and South West of England and short break/shared care residential respite services, fully registered by OFSTED in the North West for young people aged 5-17 on admission.
Staffing
Everyone we work with is supported by a minimum of 1:1 staffing level by experienced and fully vetted staff. This high level allows for a truly individualised, person-centred approach and enables each individual to develop life skills that will assist them throughout their futures and hopefully maximise their potential.
All staff are appropriately trained and supervised and are subject to enhanced Criminal Records Check (CRB) prior to any involvement in working with children. Key-worker staff are identified from the beginning of each placement and these staff play a lead role in the care of the young person and in ensuring effective communications with the young person’s family.
Values
Our services have been developed in response to current legislation and initiatives; the residential services are specifically designed to help young people achieve the objectives of the five outcomes as identified within the “Every Child Matters” framework. This is mirrored in the outreach services, services which further include meeting the 7 outcomes of the “Independence, Wellbeing and Choice for Adults”.
Our Stockport services are further registered within the “Placements North West” register and feature on the approved providers list of several different local authorities across the North West of England.
Benefits of the Cygnet Springside Services
- We only work with individuals who display traits or autism or Asperger’s syndrome.
Staff are aware of the issues posed and faced by individuals and their families living with this condition and have experience in supporting and developing individuals in this area. - We realise that family life can be difficult to manage on a day to day basis due to the issues posed and faced by individuals living with autism and Asperger’s syndrome.
Our services are flexible in meeting the needs of individuals and their families and as such the service revolves around individuals accessing the services. - Our services include an outreach service that spans the age range of 5-64 years.
This provision allows the service to support individuals through their transition into and throughout adulthood. - We aim to support individuals to develop life, social and independence skills during their time with the service.
Whilst providing respite for families, our services also identify and maximise an individual's future potentials. - Pre service assessments are always undertaken prior to any individual accessing the service.
Our staff have a good idea of how an individual needs and wants to be supported and of their wishes and aspirations prior to them accessing the service and therefore can minimise any distress that accessing a new environment may cause. - Our residential services are based within a friendly community and an area that is local to shops and parks.
Local access to shops, parks and entertainment centres allows staff to support individuals in gaining life and social skills at a pace suited to the individual. - We undertake regular reviews with individuals and their families.
This allows individuals and those that know them best to have a say about how the service is supporting them and what areas of support need to be addressed to develop and optimise an individual's potentials for the future.
