Cygnet Health launch new series of Welcome Guides
Cygnet Health Care are delighted to announce the publication of a new series of welcome guides. Designed by service users and staff the welome guides are for individuals who might be admitted to one of our hospitals.
Each guide gives an overview of life at a Cygnet unit and explains many of the things that service users told us they would like to know before they move in. We worked with our service users to ensure that the guide was written in language that they felt comfortable with and used graphics and a font size that suited their needs.
The prototype of the guide was developed for Cygnet Hospital Derby. Since then we have recently published guides for Cygnet Hospitals Beckton, Bierley, Blackheath, Kewstoke and Wyke with more to follow.
The welcome guide is one of a series of new documents being developed in partnership with our service users. The underlying principle behind the development of all the new documents builds on the principles of service user involvement being developed by the National QIPP Programme Shared Pathway workstream.
Staff from Cygnet Hospital Derby have attended a number of Shared Pathway meetings and training sessions. During these meetings the Derby welcome guide was exhibited as an example of good practice. As a result representatives from Derby have been invited to contribute to the Shared Pathway Patient Portfolio working group which defines national standards.
