Cygnet Springside Stockport are pleased to announce that, in addition to our short break respite and outreach support services, we now also offer full time residential placements for children and young people aged 5-17. This service specialises in innovative and proactive support for individuals with autistic spectrum disorders and associated conditions, including epilepsy and other neurological conditions and behaviours which may challenge.
Cygnet Health Care is an established leading provider to the NHS and is committed to working in partnership with Primary Care Trusts nationwide; the Springside services operate a model of social disability support which forms part of a wider multi-disciplinary social and clinical care forum.
Springside's full time residential placements provide homely, low stimulus and spacious and fun environments, designed exclusively to meet the needs of young people with autism and associated complex conditions. All young people accessing the service are supported on (at least) a 1:1 staffing basis during the day with waking and sleep in staff on duty each night. This high level of support affords for individualised, structured and highly proactive direct working, designed to continually develop young people's abilities in relation to their life, social and communication skills, via positive and measured challenges, continuous assessment and the setting of incremental objectives.
Young people are encouraged and supported in undertaking life skills such as cooking, laundry etc. Structured support is given to individuals to enable them to meaningfully socially integrate, develop communication skills and to advance their life and social skills.
Emphasis is also placed on individual and group leisure and fun activities, with a plethora of planned in house and external activities and events on offer; the service has a state of the art sensory room, a very spacious garden (with swings, a climbing frame, trampoline etc) and provides theme days, arts and crafts etc. Service users are supported and encouraged to personalise their environment as much as they like and all cultural, belief, dietary and ethnicity needs are met wherever possible.
The residence is situated in a pleasant part of Stockport (Heaton Moor) and is near to local shops, a train station/bus routes, a park and other amenities essential for social inclusion development.
The service is regulated by Ofsted, is featured within approved provider's lists across the North West of England and is in the process of obtaining full accreditation with the National Autistic Society.
