30 Apr 2009: Cygnet Springside Stockport Opening Day

Cygnet Springside Stockport held its new short break and shared care residential services grand opening day on the 23rd April, 2009. The opening was a hugely successful and fun event that was attended by over 50 people, including The Mayor of Stockport, Councillor Pam King. The official opening ceremony was conducted by special guest celebrity Timmy Mallett, with assistance from Shaun Clarke, a Springside outreach service user, all undertaken in Timmy’s inimitable zany style!

Everybody who attended was offered a full tour and all were very impressed with the facilities and much positive feedback was given to the management team. A number of visitors also commented on how “autism friendly” the services appeared and much approval was given to the spacious interiors and garden and the general decor.

More specifically, much discussion took place about how well the residential services were designed to afford for the optimised delivery of individualised packages of pro-active care and support, with an obvious emphasis on practical life and social skills development. The event marked the start of a new era in tailored autism support in the North West UK and was a clear indicator of Cygnet Health Care’s commitment to developing services of excellence for those with autism and Asperger’s syndrome. As one parent commented “Thank goodness…a service that finally understands my child’s needs.”
