We are very pleased to announce that Dr Sameer Sarkar has been appointed to the position of Medical Director of Cygnet Hospital Harrow.
Dr Sarkar is a much sought after expert in all types of litigation and specializes in ADHD and SSRI induced violence. Since its inception in 2010, he has been serving in the Royal College of Psychiatrist's Special Committee on Professional Practice and Ethics (SCPPE). He has also recently been appointed to the Ethics Committee of American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law for a 3 year term.
Dr Sarkar has published widely on professional ethics and confidentiality and regularly writes in professional journals in the USA and the UK and is a much sought after speaker in conferences and media. He is an associate editor of the 'Journal of American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law', and the 'Journal of Ethics in Mental Health', both international journals published from North America. He is an advisor to the government and regulatory bodies on professional boundary violations and was recently re-appointed by Parliament to serve the National DNA Database Ethics Group. He is also an associate of the General Medical Council and sits on the GMC's Registration Panel and Investigation Committee.
Dr Sarkar's clinical practice is in the field of adult general psychiatry, and his special interest and expertise is in the treatment of Adult ADHD. Dr Sarkar originally joined Cygnet Health Care in 2008.
