On Saturday 3rd July our very own Gemma Body, registered manager of Cygnet Lodge Westlands, successfully took part in the 1 mile Great London Swim.
Gemma completed the swim in 27 minutes and came 15th in her race out of 250 people. Overall she finished 256th out of a total of 5,000 swimmers - a fantastic achievement. In doing so she has raised nearly £800 for MIND.
Gemma reports that the swim was easier than expected though the friction marks on her neck (caused by her wetsuit) have since been the cause of much speculation amongst friends and colleagues.
The highlight of her day was crossing the finishing line in time to see the 'Go Gemma' banner being held aloft by the Westlands patients who were there in support.
Gemma would like to thank all those who supported her on the day and those who have given donations.
Her donation page is still open for another three weeks, if you would still like to make a donation please visit http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/gemswim.
