‹ Back to News 23 March 2011: Dr Elizabeth Gethins joins Cygnet Hospital Derby

We are delighted to announce that Dr Elizabeth Gethins will be joining the team as the Responsible Clinician for the new female personality disorder service at Cygnet Hospital Derby which opens on the 11th April 2011. Dr Gethins is a dual trained psychiatrist with CCST's in both Forensic and General Adult psychiatry.

Elizabeth has a wide range of experience both in the independent sector and within the NHS, and within the spectrum of women's secure services where she has worked at Medical Director level. She has also worked at Garrow House - a new and innovative Dept of Health pilot project that provides high support services for women.

In the past Elizabeth has worked with motherhood and mental health services, established general adult sector psychiatry and the military. She has experience of providing management consultancy services to a wide range of mental health services in both the NHS and Independent sector, and has worked with HASCAS (Health and Social Care Advisory Service) as the medical panel member on several homicide inquiries.

Elizabeth is particularly interested in promoting service user empowerment and partnerships, true MDT working and the clinical governance and quality agenda. She is delighted to have the opportunity to work with the new service and team at Derby, and will enhance our philosophy of providing a fresh and inclusive way of thinking about service delivery in partnership with the women.
