A recent survey of clinical outcomes at Cygnet Lodge Brighouse, including lengths of stay data and HoNOS scores has shown that out of the 56 service users discharged since the service opened in 2006:
Length of stay compared to outcomes
Whilst service user HoNOS scores show overall improvements to all service user segments during their time at the Lodge, it is clear from the above table that the optimum length of time for a service user to stay at Brighouse is between 12 and 24 months. This is due to the fact that the unit has developed a care pathway that is structured to last over the course of 12 months, after which service user are able to consolidate and build on key skills. As a result 83% of all service users discharged after 12 months have moved onto less secure and community settings.
