  • The maintenance of a high staff/patient ratio, to allow, individual patient care.
  • Regular audits of clinical care and management systems by independent managers, with reports being made available to the Healthcare Commission or Commission for Social Care and Inspection and individual board meetings at unit level.
  • A comprehensive daily therapy programme with input by staff who possess specialised qualifications and are registered with appropriate professional bodies.
  • The encouragement of patient involvement in the day to day running of each unit.
  • The provision of superior services in all units which includes:
    1. standard of accommodation
    2. in-house catering
    3. leisure activities
    4. communications such as direct access to e-mail and internet services following comprehensive risk assessment

Audit reports are made available to the Mental Health Act Commission, Healthcare Commission and Commission for Social Care and Inspection on all visits.
