About Cygnet Health

Since Cygnet was founded in 1988, we have built a business providing high value integrated services to individuals suffering from a wide range of psychiatric illnesses and disabilities. Over the years we have developed a wide range of services to address the specific needs of service users creating pathways to allow individuals to move towards their recovery.

In the current climate of economic restraint, Cygnet has worked closely with NHS commissioners to deliver excellent value for money. Cygnet are recognized as a specialist provider by the NHS across England and Wales In a recent analysis by 2 NHS commissioning bodies Cygnet were rated first for value for a wide range of inpatient services. In addition we are 100% CQUIN compliant across all of our services.

Cygnet operates 17 centres with more than 730 beds. Each centre is at the hub of an integrated pathway towards independent living with our newest venture Cygnet Supported Living. This service teams Cygnet with an independent Housing Association to deliver the much needed final steps in the recovery pathway. The goal is to have individuals living independently in the community in their own accommodation.

Two units are registered nursing homes providing long term and respite care for private fee-paying elderly residents. We provide autism outreach and short stay residential care in the North West and South West of England as well as a short stay and respite home in Kent for people with autism and asperger's syndrome.

We also run Detox 5, an opiate detoxification service with an abstinence and recovery focus. Working with partners in the NHS and the voluntary sector we deliver a small but important step towards a drug free lifestyle, by delivering a 5 day pain free opiate detoxification supported with quarterly implants of naltrexone to support the therapeutic input delivered by our partners.

Company policy emphasizes strong local clinical and administrative management. Each clinic has its own local management board comprising the hospital's most senior manager, the medical director, two executive directors from a main board, and a staff representative. Our corporate structure is deliberately low-key - a factor that also helps maintain the personal nature of Cygnet's patient services.
