Since Cygnet was founded in 1988, we have built a business based on providing care-with care.
- Cygnet is the largest outsourcing provider to the NHS of acute and intensive care psychiatry.
- Cygnet is Britain’s largest provider of heroin detoxification services.
- Cygnet’s nationwide network of clinics makes it Britain’s second largest independent provider of acute psychiatric services.
Today, Cygnet operates 16 centres with more than 600 inpatient beds. Twelve clinics care for acutely ill psychiatric patients suffering from a broad range of psychological and emotional disorders. Two units are registered nursing homes providing long term and respite care for private fee-paying elderly residents. We also run Detox5, an opiate detoxification centre in Harrogate and a residential care home in Kent for people with Autism and Asperger's Syndrome.
Company policy emphasizes strong local clinical and administrative management. Each clinic has its own local management board comprising the hospital’s most senior manager, the medical director, two executive directors from a main board, and a staff representative. Our corporate structure is deliberately low-key - a factor that also helps maintain the personal nature of Cygnet’s patient services.
